The Schrinner Council’s holiday program is back, giving families hundreds of free and affordable ways to stay active, creative and entertained throughout the winter break.
From local libraries and neighbourhood parks to community venues and Brisbane City Hall, more than 400 activities will be happening right across the city, helping families make the most of Brisbane’s beautiful winter weather.
Across the suburbs, Brisbane’s 33 libraries will host more than 150 events, including STEM challenges, craft workshops, storytelling sessions, live performances, NAIDOC Week activities and creative experiences for kids and teens.
The much-loved Gold Star and Little Stars Reading Clubs will also return, having inspired more than 130,000 Brisbane children to discover the joy of reading since the program began.
For families looking to get outdoors and stay active, more than 120 free Active and Healthy sessions will be held across the city.
From obstacle challenges and boxing classes to nature-based activities and sports sessions for all abilities, there will be plenty of opportunities for kids as young as 2 to get moving, build confidence and have fun close to home.

Quotes attributable to Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner:
“Brisbane is Australia’s lifestyle capital and these school holidays are the perfect opportunity for families to get out and enjoy everything our city has to offer.
“We know families are looking for affordable ways to keep children active and entertained, which is why more than 75 per cent of our program is completely free.
“Whether you’re exploring nature, learning new skills, getting active or enjoying a live performance, there are plenty of opportunities to create lasting memories with family and friends these school holidays in Brisbane.”
Quote attributable to Active and Healthy Coach Emma Teede:
“It’s incredible to see how quickly kids build confidence, strength and resilience through obstacle training – they’re running, climbing and problem solving all at once.
“With obstacle racing now part of modern pentathlon at the Olympics, what we’re teaching today could genuinely open the door for these kids to compete on the world stage in Brisbane 2032.
“Even more importantly, programs like Active and Healthy make these experiences accessible, helping kids stay active, develop lifelong fitness habits and simply enjoy moving their bodies in a fun, supportive environment.”
