Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner is searching for four music producers to deliver Brisbane City Council’s longest and most prestigious performance program – the Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concerts.
Cr Schrinner said the free weekly concerts attract more than 40,000 people of all ages and backgrounds, including seniors and families, each year.
“The Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concerts is our longest running performance experience, showcasing some of our best local and national artists under the stunning dome-ceiling in City Hall’s auditorium for over 80 years,” he said.
“The concerts have continued to grow in popularity after they were first launched on 27 May 1941 by the Brisbane Municipal Musical Advisory Council.
“We’re looking for up to four creative organisations to deliver the free weekly performances from 2023 through to 2027.
“The free concerts are held from 12 noon until 1pm every Tuesday from February to November, delivering around 44 performances on average each year.
“Up to 500 musicians are employed as part of the program, watched on by more than 40,000 people each year, which is a fantastic opportunity for exposure for our talented performing artists.”
Cr Schrinner said applicants have until Friday 15 July to throw their hat into the ring for this unique musical opportunity.
“These concerts bring a broad range of musical genres and styles to the audience each week, including tribute shows, acoustic performances, duets and jazz performances, just to name a few,” he said.
“Some of the most popular performances to date have been the Australian Army Band Brisbane, Tenor US and Pops and Circumstance.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to work not only within one of Brisbane’s most iconic venues, but also with a broad range of musical acts all designed to thrill and entertain local audiences.”
