A smorgasbord of delicious dishes, exciting entertainment and immersive art installations will transform Brisbane Powerhouse into a foodie mecca throughout next month’s inaugural Night Feast.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the month-long Night Feast event is a key part of Council’s investment into the popular riverside precinct.
“Our city has a growing reputation as Australia’s lifestyle capital thanks to our incredible climate and fantastic range of destinations and venues,” Cr Schrinner said.
“We are proud to be supporting Night Feast because events like this help make Brisbane even better.
“Many of Brisbane’s best chefs will be rolling up their sleeves to showcase their signature dishes during Night Feast with a great range of delicious dishes on offer that suit all tastes and budgets.
“I’m encouraging all local food lovers to head to the Brisbane Powerhouse throughout March to experience this fantastic new event.”
Civic Cabinet Chair for Community, Arts and Nighttime Economy Vicki Howard said there was no better destination for a festival of food and fine dining.
“The Brisbane Powerhouse is already much loved by residents and visitors and will make the perfect backdrop for a vibrant, outdoor night market,” Cr Howard said.
“I encourage residents to make a night of it. Grab a bite to eat and then catch a show at Brisbane Powerhouse, or head to one of the many fantastic local bars or entertainment venues in the area.”
Brisbane Powerhouse CEO/Artistic Director Kate Gould said mesmerising site design by Dark Mofo’s Bruce McKinven and immersive installations, roaming performances and DJ sets would “surprise and delight the senses”.
“Melding fine food and avant-garde art within a dreamlike setting, this delicious new event epitomises Brisbane Powerhouse’s renewed vision for transformative cultural experiences,” Ms Gould said.
Food curator and restaurant critic Lizzie Loel said chefs had been hand-picked and invited to share their signature dish.
“Night Feast gives visitors an opportunity to sample the best of Brisbane’s gourmet food scene within an immersive, outdoor neon-noir environment,” Ms Loel said.
“We’ll also have an open fire-pit for roasting, a dedicated dessert bar, quality cocktails and an award-winning wine list, all designed for communal feasting.”
The Night Feast Program is just one of the new and exciting initiatives coming to Brisbane Powerhouse, with an outdoor cinema, art installations and performance spaces also announced as part of the Schrinner Council’s investment.
Among the line-up of gourmet greats is hatted chef Philip Johnson (e’cco Bistro), Lyndon Tyers (Donna Chang), winemaker Dave Cush (City Winery), Tuan Nguyen (NGON), Lek Senee (Lek’s Thai) and Patricio Sarno (Mary Mae’s Kitchen & Bar).
The inaugural Night Feast will take place 1 – 26 March and will be open Wednesday – Sunday 4.30pm – 9.30pm.
