Brisbane’s best parks have been revealed for residents seeking free and affordable fun all summer long.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said Brisbane’s incredible network of 2180 parks played an important role in maintaining the city’s liveability.
“Brisbane is renowned for having the best lifestyle in Australia and our parks are a key part of this,” Cr Schrinner said.
“There’s truly something for everyone, from adventure playgrounds like Bradbury Park, Kedron and Warril Parklands, Larapinta to natural greenspaces like Hanlon Park, Stones Corner.
“We continue to invest in Brisbane’s parks because it’s an investment in making Brisbane’s suburbs even better places to live.
“We know cost-of-living pressures are taking a toll on households across the city, especially during the Christmas and school holiday period.
“Families can find hours of free fun at their local park or take a picnic and discover a new one – there’s adventure around every corner.”
Cr Schrinner said 64 new parks had been created in the past five years, including seven completed in 2023.
“Brisbane is Australia’s fastest growing city and it’s important we ensure residents have access to great open spaces as we grow,” he said.
“When I first became Lord Mayor, I committed to keeping Brisbane clean, green and sustainable for future generations and this included growing our park network.
“Some of my favourite childhood memories took place in our local park and I’m sure residents feel the same way.
“Parks make our suburbs even better and help residents stay active, healthy and connected to their local community.
“Residents looking for other summer activities that are light on the wallet can continue to attend Council pools for just $2 through our Summer Dips program.”
Residents can also visit Brisbane City Council’s website to find hundreds of free and affordable activities and events.
