New street trees, upgraded footpaths and better lighting will be delivered in Nundah under the first of the Schrinner Council’s Better Suburbs Places and Spaces program.
The revamped program aims to refresh neighbourhood spaces across the suburbs, adding to Brisbane’s reputation as Australia’s lifestyle capital.
Based on community feedback, the precinct on the corner of Ryans Road and Robinson Road, Nundah will receive:
• New public open spaces with grass, garden beds and street trees
• Improved accessibility measures including kerb ramps, accessible parking and footpaths
• New seating, a drinking fountain, bike racks and bins
• Improved pedestrian access with a new crossing, improved street lighting and ‘no stopping’ line markings
Better Suburbs Places and Spaces follows the success of the Village Precinct Projects, which delivered upgrades to 23 suburban hubs between 2018 to 2024 including:
• Sue’s Corner precinct on Sandgate Road,
• Martha Street in Camp Hill
• Railway Parade, Darra
• Aminya St, Mansfield
• Ashgrove West Village
• and Manly Harbour Village
Future locations to be explored by the Better Suburbs Places and Spaces program include Lambert Road, Indooroopilly and Ainsworth Street, Salisbury.
The initiative joins the Schrinner Council’s Suburban Renewal Precincts program, which looks to unlock the potential of well-connected suburbs for new homes and jobs.
The first round of consultation for Stones Corner is complete and consultation is currently underway across the Wynnum CBD. Mt Gravatt has been identified as the next suburb to be explored.
Works on the Nundah precinct will begin on Monday 28 April and continue into late 2025.
