Quotes attributable to Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner:
“Brisbane is one of Australia’s fastest-growing cities which is why we’re investing even more into building better roads and a record amount into the public transport subsidy to keep Brisbane moving.
“Brisbane is the only Council in Australia to subsidise public transport, and a record $210 million will be invested this year to support more services, more often.
“These commitments in the 2025-26 Budget will help reduce congestion and make it easier for people to get around sooner and safer.
“Brisbane Metro is already proving a major success, and we will now progress the expansion of Metro so even more people can benefit from this world-class bus rapid transit.
“Our balanced Budget lets us upgrade traffic systems, improve road and school safety and plan the long-term restoration of the Story Bridge without adding unnecessary costs onto residents.”
