The Schrinner Council has awarded almost $65,000 in this year’s round of Native Wildlife Carers Grants.
Grants ranging from $500 to $5000 have been awarded to 18 wildlife carers so they can continue protecting and saving our native wildlife.
The program supports groups and individuals devoted to rehabilitating sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife, including amphibians, bats, gliders, birds, possums, koalas, and reptiles.
Our Council has awarded more than $1.1 million worth of grants since the program began in 2008.
Carers can use the funds to help cover the purchases of a range of items, including:
- veterinary expenses
- travel expenses to rescue, release and transfer native wildlife
- feeding utensils
- care blankets
- travel bags
- nest boxes
- pre-release cages
- enclosures
- aviaries
