Brisbane’s first over-water restaurant has opened on the popular Kangaroo Point Bridge today and is ready to take diners to new heights.
The highly anticipated venue Stilts completes the duo of dining options delivered on this landmark bridge by Brisbane hospitality group leader Tassis Group.
The opening of Stilts marks the completion of the $288-million Kangaroo Point Bridge precinct, which has now clocked up more than half a million trips since opening on 15 December 2024.
Standing 10-meters above the river, the design of the 130-seat restaurant was inspired by the stilt-based construction of the iconic Queenslander home.
Head Chef Dan Hernandez and his team have selected some of Brisbane’s best produce and Australian wines to accompany the spectacular panoramic views of the CBD, Brisbane River, Story Bridge, Kangaroo Point Cliffs and City Botanic Gardens.
The opening follows a successful first week of trade at riverside eatery Mulga Bill’s which has had a steady flow of customers for breakfast, lunch and dinner since opening on 14 February.
Both venues are operated by Tassis Group, which manages some of Brisbane’s most iconic bars and restaurants, including Opa, Longwang, and Rich and Rare.
The Kangaroo Point Bridge was one of three active transport bridge opened in 2024, the other two being the Schrinner Council’s Breakfast Creek / Yowoggera Bridge and the privately-funded Neville Bonner Bridge.
We are now seeking funding from the Federal Government for a business case for the Toowong-to-West End bridge, which will require support from all three levels of government to proceed.
The Toowong-to-West End Bridge was one of 18 key transport projects identified to be delivered by 2032 in The Race to Gold: Brisbane’s Games Transport Legacy plan.
The landing site on the former ABC headquarters has been secured and the resumption process was completed late last year for the bridge, which will be the third and last bridge delivered under the Schrinner Council’s Bridges for Brisbane program in a bid to keep costs down for residents.
