Santa Claus has once again sent seven Brisbane sleighs to battle it out in front of City Hall for the coveted title of Most Festive Bus.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the 27-year-strong competition brought joy to residents each year.
“The past couple of years have been really tough for everyone, so to have seven tinsel-laden buses in service across our city from Toowong to Willawong to help spread Christmas cheer is a fantastic,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Our depots pulled out all the stops this year to bring tdihe magic of Christmas to life decorating to festive themes including Christmas Down Under to Santa’s Workshop.
“I think it’s safe to say Brisbane is home to the most festive public transport, second only to the North Pole of course.
“The huge team effort from all of the depots will be sure to brighten up passengers’ travel this holiday season.
“While I think every depot delivered a winning bus, the Carina Depot took out the top prize. Second place went to Garden City Depot and Willawong Depot took our third place.
Cr Schrinner said residents and visitors getting around town over the festive season could rest assured that services would run to timetables that will still allow residents to celebrate and get home safely.
“There will also be free travel on Council buses for Christmas during the periods 10-12 December and 17-19 December and seniors will continue to travel for free during off-peak on weekdays (including weekday public holidays) on Council buses and ferries, and all weekend on buses.”
