The Schrinner Council is bringing world-class artworks from Asia and the Pacific to the streets of Brisbane.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner announced 11 pieces from the Gallery of Modern Art’s signature 10th annual Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (ATP10) kids exhibition would take over Brisbane’s outdoor art spaces.
“From laneway lightboxes to cliff-face projections, Council’s outdoor art displays brighten up our streets and give artists an opportunity to showcase their works to residents and visitors,” Cr Schrinner said.
“We’re excited about bringing global artworks to the streets and laneways. It will be a great chance for little minds to engage with modern art and different cultures.
“Several of this year’s pieces have been created by or with children making this trail a great family day out in the heart of the city.
“Families can make their way from the colourful lightboxes at Fish Lane in Southbank to the CBD to see the shapes and drawings at Hutton and Eagle Lanes during the day.
“At night, Howard Smith Wharves will come to life with tessellations and animals projected onto the rockfaces underneath the story bridge.”
To make visiting these works even easier, residents are encouraged to take advantage of the Schrinner Council’s two free weekends of bus travel across Brisbane.
Free festive fares start this Friday 10 December to Sunday 12th of December and from Friday 17th through Sunday 19th of December.
