The Schrinner Council is putting on hundreds of free and low-cost activities to help keep kids entertained these summer holidays.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said there are more than 790 activities planned across Brisbane during the summer break, with something for children of all ages.
“I know holiday periods can be expensive when it comes to keeping kids entertained, so we’ve made sure Brisbane has lots of affordable activities for every age group,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Young teens can get their adrenaline pumping by abseiling down cliffs or stand-up paddle boarding on the bay or, if they prefer, there’s great painting workshops, Meccano classes and anime and manga clubs taking place across the city.
“Roma Street Parkland’s Moonlight Cinemas and Outdoor Cinemas in the Suburbs will be showing the latest and greatest flicks, including Marvel’s Eternals, The Grinch and Clifford the Big Red Dog.
“These school holidays are another great chance to holiday at home, explore our own backyard and help inject vital tourism dollars back into the local businesses.”
It’s never been easier to plan your day-to-day activities, with all 790 events and activities as well as cafes and restaurants available to view on the new official Brisbane App.
Residents can download the free app, create their own itineraries, follow guides made by locals and check out where their closest pool, park and playground is.

Council’s three environment centres at Boondall Wetlands, Downfall Creek and Karawatha Forest will also have new options this year including Japanese Christmas crafts and a bush Christmas event featuring a candlelit stroll through the bushlands.
These events will run alongside the usual fun-filled program, including bush buddies, wildlife shows, water fun and games.
A tour of the solar system at the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium is also a popular school holiday choice, where residents can watch shows in a sky dome and explore the stars.
