Wynnum and Banyo residents are invited to share their thoughts on supporting local business through Council’s Growing Precincts Together program.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said a new online survey will open today for residents and business owners to have their say on future opportunities for the Wynnum and Banyo Town Centre precincts.
“We want to ensure Brisbane continues to be the most small-business friendly destination in Australia,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Local businesses are so important for our suburbs and Council is committed to making our communities prosperous and exciting places to work and relax.
“Launched in 2022, the Growing Precincts Together program has worked closely with selected suburban precincts to understand their unique offerings, identify opportunities for growth and promote these areas as exciting places to visit.
“Opening today and closing Sunday 17 September, the online survey will help us to better understand the challenges the Wynnum and Banyo precincts face and support future activations moving forward.”
The Growing Precincts Together pilot program follows a three-step process to support suburban business precincts:
- Understand the precinct through various audits and accounts from businesses and customers, including the launch of the online survey and in person consultations
- Engage with the community via a precinct information session to network and share knowledge
- Develop a precinct playbook to identify opportunities for promotion, support, refresh and activation.
The Racecourse Road and Rosalie Village precincts were part of the pilot program which received online promotions and one-on-one business consultations through expert providers.
The pilot saw more than 170 businesses in the Racecourse Road precinct and 60 businesses in Rosalie Village offered support in areas such as digital marketing, shopfront makeovers, visual merchandising consultations, business coaching and food business support.
Cr Schrinner said the positive results of the program meant it would now be extended and other precincts considered for future collaboration with Council.
“We invite anyone with ideas on how to improve these precincts to visit the council website and share your thoughts,” he said.
“Community surveys like this are how we can make Brisbane business precincts even better.”
Residents and businesses who complete the survey will go into the draw to win one of two $150 gift cards to spend in their local precinct.
