Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has welcomed his team’s ongoing renewal heading into 2024.
Danita Parry, a mother of two who has a background in corporate affairs, will become Team Schrinner’s fourth new member when she’s formally sworn in as the Councillor for Marchant Ward later today.
Cr Schrinner said his team had a strong record when it came to renewal and recruiting high-calibre women candidates like Ms Parry.
“Whether it’s sports or politics, renewal is important to any team so it’s fantastic we’ve been able to recruit four new members this year,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Our team is focussed on the issues that matter to Brisbane residents like safety in our suburbs, tackling congestion, helping deliver new homes and keeping costs down.
“Danita will be a fantastic local councillor for Marchant Ward and she’s already been talking to me about the issues that really matter to local residents.”
Ms Parry’s selection follows the appointments of Walter Taylor Councillor Penny Wolff, Hamilton Councillor Julia Dixon and Paddington Councillor Clare Jenkinson.
Danita takes the number of women on Team Schrinner to 13 out of 20, which is 65 per cent female representation.
“Brisbane is Australia’s fastest growing capital city and we face a number of opportunities and challenges when it comes to maintaining the incredible lifestyle that our residents enjoy,” Cr Schrinner said.
“I am confident our team has the right mix of energy and experience to continue delivering the road, transport, parks, and playgrounds that our suburbs need.”
Ms Parry said she was ready to get to work for the residents of Marchant Ward.
“Marchant Ward is my home and where my husband and I have chosen to live and raise our family; because of the great schools, world class parks and close-knit community,” she said.
“I’ll be working every day to make sure our suburbs continue to be vibrant community hubs where people live, work, and have fun.
“I can’t wait to get out and about in our neighbourhoods alongside Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and his experienced team to make the northside even better for residents now and into the future.”
