The Schrinner Council is moving ahead with the transformation of one of Brisbane’s most-loved riverside parks, with the major Mowbray Park upgrade set to go to market.
The heritage-listed 4.4-hectare Mowbray Park at East Brisbane will be revitalised with a new car park, village green, bandstand, lighting, croquet clubhouse, shared pathways, expanded playground and terraced amphitheatre.
Removal of the former bowls club was completed in late 2025, paving the way for the park’s transformation and building on the Schrinner Council’s flood-resilient upgrade of the Mowbray Park ferry terminal, completed in December 2024.
Surrounding suburbs have grown by up to 25 per cent over the past five years, increasing demand for quality parks and recreation opportunities in Brisbane’s inner east.
The tender to deliver the major park transformation is expected to be released to the open market on 7 October.
A preferred contractor will be determined early next year, with construction to follow.
