A revamped outdoor public space with furniture made from recycled construction material has been delivered as part of the Brisbane Metro project.
The Schrinner Council delivered the revitalised QPAC Melbourne Street Green as part the Brisbane Metro Cultural Centre station upgrade.
A new permanent stage, synthetic lawn, landscaping and upgrades to lighting and audio systems and accessibility improvements from Melbourne and Grey streets have been delivered.
The old bamboo screens that surrounded the space have also been removed and replaced with new fencing to open up the space for the public.
The public lawn will be decked out with furniture made from concrete recycled from the Brisbane Metro Cultural Centre Station worksite.
Local company Five Mile Radius have made the furniture, including 10 solid concrete tabletops at their Yeronga base.
The re-opening of the refurbished Melbourne Street Greens follows the opening of the upgraded Cultural Centre platforms one and two.
Works on the third and final platform are underway now, with new lifts to the station overpass and upgraded bikeway connections also being delivered in the precinct.
The newly revitalised space was unveiled as part of the Clancestry Festival at QPAC which runs until August 9.
