Renowned launchpad for creative careers, Council’s Visible Ink Youth Hub is celebrating its 20th anniversary in time for Brisbane Youth Week 2022.
“Visible Ink is a hidden gem in Fortitude Valley, operating for two decades as a free and welcoming space for young people to foster their craft – be it music, writing, art or filmmaking,” Cr Schrinner said.
“It’s a space where musicians, producers and DJs can record, film and produce music, rehearse with their band and develop their skills with mentors.
“For young entrepreneurs, it’s a place to learn how to build a business and operate confidently in the professional world, with industry support.
“Young people also take advantage of free professional equipment available for hire including lighting and audio packs, DSLR, GoPro and video cameras.”
Visible Ink Alumni include journalist and novelist Bri Lee (author of Eggshell Skull), Emmy award-winning TV producer Peter Johnston and CEO of Girl Geek Academy Sarah Moran.
Kris Spann, founder of People Parkers, said their time at Visible Ink shaped them professionally and personally.
“Visible Ink provided me opportunities to access funding, develop new skills, expand my networks, learn from mentors and create a solid platform to grow as an entrepreneur,” they said.
“The experience helped me understand the importance of placing purpose and community at the forefront of any projects I work on.”
