The 14th Asia Pacific Cities Summit (2023APCS) and Mayors’ Forum will return to Brisbane in 2023.
Running from the 11th to the 13th of October, the 2023 edition will return to full capacity.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the Summit would be the largest and most diverse gathering of city leaders to be held in the Asia Pacific region.
“Known for its award winning, dynamic program, APCS is one of the largest and most diverse gatherings of mayors and industry leaders from across the world,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Not only for global leaders; our local business community will also be able to create new connections and showcase their brand, services, and products to a captive global audience of over 100 cities representing half billion people.
“The 2023 theme Shaping Cities for the Future inspires opportunities to create global relationships and continue towards a sustainable outlook for the Asia Pacific while leveraging the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“With our status as a future host city, several new countries have expressed interest in attending the 2023 Summit and are eager to share knowledge and learn from what we do here in Brisbane.
“While our customs may differ, we are all experiencing ongoing global challenges that are impacting the way we live.
“Brisbane 2032 offers a decade of opportunity for every community across our country and neighbouring regions. As we continue to build connections with our Asia Pacific neighbours, opportunities for our residents, sporting communities and also local businesses continue to grow.”
The official launch of 2023APCS, held on Thursday 20th April, saw more than 200 domestic and international business and government leaders gathered at Brisbane City Hall, including a delegation of mayors and senior government officials from Nepal.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the 2023 Summit would be an unmissable event on Brisbane’s business calendar, bringing together business and government experts for strategic and collaborative opportunities.
“APCS has been held 13 times since its inception in 1996, alternating between Brisbane and international host cities, including Seattle (2001APCS), Chongqing (2005APCS), Incheon (2009APCS), Kaohsiung (2013APCS) and Daejeon (2017APCS),” he said.
While keynote speakers are yet to be announced, previous summits have heard from the likes of former Paralympian and gold medallist Kurt Fearnley AO, Netflix Co-founder Marc Randolph and Founder of Virgin Group Sir Richard Branson.
Cr Schrinner said this year’s theme would be broken down into subthemes of Cities of Connection, Cities of Sustainability and Cities of Legacy.
“The 2023APCS is set to explore a variety of topics including opportunities with technology, data and people, how we adapt and grow towards inclusivity and wellbeing, and creating economic growth and security through world class events,” he said.
“We look forward to welcoming more than 1000 mayors and delegates representing over 100 international cities when the Summit kicks off on 11 October.”

The 2023APCS will primarily take place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in South Brisbane, with several venues across Brisbane also set to be used, providing an opportunity to showcase Brisbane to an international audience.
Prominent media identity, Sylvia Jeffreys, has been announced as MC for the event, with details on keynote speakers to be released in the coming months.
