More than 100,000 native plants have helped transform Archerfield Wetlands from a degraded parkland into a vibrant lifestyle destination.
Since October 2023, the Schrinner Council’s Biodiverse Brisbane Initiative has been rejuvenating the site as one of Brisbane’s most significant natural restoration projects.
More than 30,000 new native plants were added this month alone in a major boost for local biodiversity.
The milestone contributes to the goal of planting one million native plants within wetlands and waterway corridors across Brisbane by 2032.
From eucalypts and wattles to vines and native grasses, over 110 species have been planted at Archerfield Wetlands, helping restore vital habitat that supports wildlife, and improves water quality in rivers and creeks.
The project is being delivered by the Brisbane Sustainability Agency, with support from key partners and local volunteers, showcasing how collaboration is getting things done for Brisbane’s environment.
The award-winning park was named Queensland’s Park of the Year in September, just one year after opening to the public.
This week, it also took home two national awards for Land Management and Play Spaces at the 2025 AILA Landscape Architecture Awards.
