The much-anticipated Lord Mayor’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks will light up Brisbane’s skyline to ring in 2025.
This year the first fireworks display will be at an earlier more family-friendly time and the soundtrack will be streamed for the very first time so people can listen no matter where they are watching from.
There will be 80,000 individual fireworks fired from four barges along the Brisbane River between the Cultural Forecourt and River Quay.
New firework styles to be included in this year’s show include the hibiscus, hydrangea, and dragon cakes effects, with the midnight show expected to be bigger, louder and brighter than ever before.
Preparations for this year’s event began in March, with local Brisbane company Skylighter Fireworks delivering this year’s display with the theme Inspire.
The early show will be at 7.45pm and feature music for younger audiences, inspired by trending sounds, while the midnight show will feature classic tracks mixed with uplifting tracks.
The Star is working with Brisbane City Council to deliver a synchronised light display on the Queens Wharf Building for the earlier show and a NYE countdown for the midnight show.
The 7:45pm show runs for 9 minutes, and the midnight show runs for 7 minutes.
The fireworks soundtrack will be available via the Cinewav app, allowing residents and businesses to play the soundtrack at any location while they watch the fireworks.
