Illegally and dangerously parked vehicles causing congestion will be the focus of a new initiative to keep Brisbane moving.
Signage and enforcement cameras will be installed at locations that attract complaints from residents about illegally parked vehicles and cause safety and congestion issues.
Residents complained about illegal parking almost 52,000 times in 2024.
Motorists illegally stopping in clearways, no stopping zones, bus zones, loading zones and on yellow lines will be the focus of this safety and congestion-busing initiative.
If someone stops in a clearway, they reduce the capacity of a two-lane road by 50 per cent.
A recent trial of cameras in four locations revealed significant non-compliance that caused congestion and safety problems as motorists were forced to manoeuvre around illegally stopped vehicles.
The cameras will now be rolled out to 16 further locations.
Each location has signage in place advising motorists to follow the road rules and that cameras are monitoring parking compliance in the area.

- Festival Place, Newstead
- Moray Street, New Farm
- Buckland Road, Nundah
- Petrie Terrace, Petrie Terrace
- Russell Street, South Brisbane
